Yesterday the FDA approved Sculptra(R)Aesthetic (injectable poly-L-lactic acid) for the correction of shallow to deep nasolabial fold (smile lines) contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles. Sculptra was previously approved for restoration and/or correction of the signs of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy) in people with human immunodeficiency virus. This new approval is for cosmetic use of the product in non-HIV patients. Dr. Fox and Dr. Schingo are all trained Sculptra providers.
